Orienteering in Riverhead Forest - an area of pine forest and some native bush. Complex, detailed spur/gully terrain. Some new tracks have been created especially for this event. The red courses offer challenging, technical orienteering. White/ Yellow and Orange courses make greater use of tracks and easier terrain.
Please note that there is a 900m walk along the road from the Event Centre to the Start, with parking in between.

Yellow: 2.6km Easy
Orange: 2.7km Moderate
Purple: 2.4km Technical but less physically challenging course aimed at older orienteers
Red 3: 3.9.0km*
Red 2: 4.9km*
Red 1: 5.9km*
Distances may be subject to change.
*Red 1,2,3 are technical courses for more experienced orienteers - red courses will be difficult and certainly not for inexperienced orienteers.Full body cover is recommended for the red courses as parts of the map are quite green ( thick vegetation).
Given the recent extreme adverse weather there could be unmapped slips and fallen trees particularly on the red courses.

Orienteering - on Foot - you choose your pace. Usually as individuals but groups can go together.
All welcome (and you don't need to be a member to get started)
Select from a range of 7 courses of varying length and difficulty. Suitable for all ages, levels, and beginners. Some children need to be accompanied by adult.
You may start any time between 10am to 12:00 pm (noon). If you would like do do more than one course - please ensure you restart before 12:00pm
Courses close: 2:00pm unless otherwise stated. Please plan and ensure you return to the finish by course closure time.
Directions
The Riverhead (Robinson Road) event will be signposted from Coatesville.
Forest security gate opens by 9:00am.
Please drive with "lights on" in forest and stay on signed route. No detour from the signed route permitted. Watch for other forest users ( eg dog walkers/ mountainbikers)
