Hello everyone

Stop press.

As reported in the recent newsletter, this year we have negotiated with Nga Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Ngahere to arrange a number of training days in areas of Woodhill Forest, which do not require vehicle access.  The 08 August training day will be suitable for less experienced orienteers – yellow and orange level difficulty. It will be based in the vicinity of the Muriwai gate to Woodhill Forest and one of our elite orienteers, Gene Beveridge has kindly offered to coach.

There is a nominal charge of $5 for entry to the forest. You must be a club member to participate.

Spaces are limited, first in first served, so please contact Gene as soon as possible to take advantage of his expertise.

Small group training 08 August
The objective of gaining the training access to Woodhill is to improve the opportunities for members to be able to train on quality orienteering terrain.
We would like to thank Nga Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Ngahere Limited for their willingness to trial these new access arrangements.

On Saturday 08 August access for training is at the Muriwai gate to Woodhill forest and the terrain is suitable for less experienced orienteers – yellow and orange level. Gene Beveridge has kindly offered to coach.

"The terrain is a combination of steep hills and patches of complex sand dune features covered in mature pine forest. Areas of leafy undergrowth significantly reduce visibility, while most of the forest retains very high visibility and good runnabilty. A network of mountain bike tracks completes this exciting area."
